The sound quality is the same or better than the X-Fi plus I have no issues with it not working. First off, don't install the nvidia firewall that thing messes your system up badly. The only custom drivers I have used are PAX Drivers... Also, the SPDIF OUT (my X-FI) is the default device.

It shouldn't be freakin out in game and give you BSODs the only problem I though it was with was the bios updater tool. My point is that what is "stellar" is not always the easiest to implement which translates into more issues that the more simplistic competition.
