I run Windows 7 64 Home Premium, with aWDC WD5000AAKS-22TMA0 hard drive. Many will argue that (as long as the heat is being dissipated appropriately) the stop/start cycles will kill a hard drive before the heat will which is an argument against sleep When your computer is in one of these power-saving modes, it remembers everything you are doing and quickly resumes full-power when you want to use the computer again.
