it will short circuit your supply (Positive output) to the inner signal wire (central pin) of the charging lead and your battery will not I had to cut manymany times and had to pull hard on the handle..

In my repair, I immediately noticed cold solder joints where the wires attach to the circuit board. I think its a short in the motherboard but i'm not sure. The dog eats it, it gets lost on a flight, it gets wet, it dies or overheats, whatever.
At first I thought i fried both batteries so i swapped it for the original one that i put aside and it worked again! Have you done a defrag and temp files cleanup? As in, when they charge, the laptop is essentially telling you that you NEED to replace them by not showing a power supply light. checked it with a voltmeter, it was 19.78V DC.
To troubleshoot power problems on the HP ac adapter, test the power cord and the battery separately. I liked how this instructable is damn accurate. You can also opt to purchase a universal AC adapter from a local or online electronics retailer. Do not settle for a ‘universal solution' as one size does not fit all.
