the sounds appear to be playing (ie: i get waveform/signal on the screen) but no audible output. the volume mixer looks correct (volume is up and nothing muted). Unfortunately, that is not the kind of thing you want to disassemble a dock to verify, as Dell will not take kindly to doing any warranty work on that dock after Creating your account only takes a few minutes.
They can even have two external monitors plugged in and the issues still don't show up. The deck is angled slightly so that the laptop fits flush on the docking station and slightly elevated in the rear, but the design leaves plenty of room for the fan
It may help with the frequency this happens, but certainly is not the fix. Get More Info However, this is the interesting bit: we've found that these issues don't persist when the machines are off their docks. EDIT 3: (3/24/16) Dell has informed me a new MST HUB fix is being introduced for this issue... When the monitors cut out and come back up, I don't get any error messages or driver crash notifications, so I didn't think to check the event logs. Please try again. useful reference I am at a loss.
